Seniors Zach Bond and Devin Koob closed out their high school golfing careers at the Class 1A District Golf Tournament held Friday, May 20th at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. The seniors finished 12th and 16th respectively. The two had qualified for districts by virtue of their top 4 finish at the previous week’s sectional tournament.
Dealing with thick rough and fast greens, the duo never got comfortable with the conditions. Bond opened his round with a 46 on the front nine only to bounce back with a closing 39 to post a score of 85. Koob struggled with his driver and posted rounds of 42 on the front and 45 on the back for an 87 total.
The two golfers, both committed to play golf at NIACC next fall, closed out stellar high school careers. They both qualified for districts their last three years. Koob led the team in scoring average the last two seasons with a fine 39.9 for the 2016 regular season. He was medalist in 5 meets this past season. Bond finished with a regular season average of 41.7 and was medalist one time in 2016. They both earned 1st Team All-Conference honors this past season by virtue of their Top 10 finish in the conference meet.
Congratulations to both golfers on fine careers at NP.
