Season Ends at Regional 1st Round

The NP Girls golf season came to an end at the Regional 1st Round. Playing at Silver Springs Golf Course in Ossian, the Huskies struggled on the day mustering a 6th place finish with a 466 team total. Needing to be in the top 2, the team failed to advance to the Regional Final. Advancing to the next round were Clayton Ridge with a 410 team total and Edgewood-Colesburg with a 423.

Individually, senior Keagan Betsinger finished in 10th place with a score of 108. Senior Abby Poppe carded a 114 total for 15th place overall. Sophomore Maddy Rodruck posted 119, Junior Sammi Tolnai a 125 and Senior Alexa Cline a 131. Medalist was Edgewood-Colesburg’s Maddy Streicher with an 87.

With the season end, that brings to a close the careers of our seniors, Keagan Betsinger, Abby Poppe, and Alexa Cline. Thank you, ladies, for your efforts and leadership.

Betsinger Runner-up at Conference

Senior Keagan Betsinger litterally slogged her way to the runner-up medalist spot at the Top of Iowa Conference Girls Golf Tournament. Played at a very, very wet Buffalo Run Golf Course in Nora Springs, the senior posted a round of 93 to gather the second indivdual spot in the meet. Osage’s Dani Johnson was medalist with an 88.

In the team race, the Huskies finished down in the standings at 8th place with a 482 team total. St. Ansgar took top team honors with a 410 team total to best Osage’s 413. Newman Catholic, who was the champion the past three years, finished in third with a 425.

Betsinger Shines On The Road

Senior Keagan Betsinger continued her strong play with another good outing in the meet held Tuesday, April 9th in Clarksville. The senior tied for low round of the meet but lost out on the medalist honor on the 1st handicap hole to gather the runner-up medal. All in all, it was a solid performance with only two bad holes in an otherwise excellent round.

The Huskies team finished the four team meet in 3rd place with a 245 team total. Sammi Tolnai contributed a 63 while Abby Poppe chipped in a 64. Rounding out the scoring was Alexa Cline with a 68.

Triipoli took top team honors with a 233 total. Clarksville was second with 236. Dunkerton finished in fourth with a 270 team total.

Betsinger Cards Career Low To Lead Huskies

Senior Keagan Betsinger carded her career low round of 45 to take Medalist honors in their meet held Monday, April 8 at the Nashua Town and Country Club. The Huskies team total of 230 took top honors over Rockford’s 249. Northwood-Kensett had only 3 golfers compete so no team score was posted.

Betsinger was backed up by senior Abby Poppe who posted a 55. Junior Sammi Tolnai carded a 63 and sophomore Maddy Rodruck shot a 66 to give the Huskies team total. Senior Alexa Cline had a 74 to round out the scoring for the home team.

Rockford’s Abby Murray took runner-up medalist honors with a 52.

Abby Poppe Finishes As Runner-up Medalist

Senior Abby Poppe carded a 52 enroute to finish in the runner-up medalist spot in the golf meet held at Ridge Stone Golf Club in Sheffield on Friday, April 5th. Poppe finished one stroke behind Central Springs’ Maddie Daily.

NP’s Keagan Betsinger posted a 53 to give the NP duo a 2nd-3rd finish. Alexa Cline carded a 78. NP only had three golfers compete so they were not able to post a team score.

Central Springs won the team race with a 221. West Fork posted a 271.

2019 Golf Season Underway

The 2019 NP Husky girls golf season got underway as they traveled to Charles City and Cedar Bend Golf Club to take on the Comets and Osage.

The NP girls took 2nd place in the meet with a 261 team total behind the team leading score of 61 turned in by senior Keagan Betsinger. Abby Poppe and Sammi Tolnai contributed 66’s. Maddy Rodruck rounded out the team total with a 68. Alexa Cline shot a 77 in her first meet ever.

Medalist for the meet was Charles City’s Marissa Daniels with a 49.
